Groveville (Hamilton Twp),
NJ Stream Access
View of
canoe/kayak put-in access to
the Crosswicks Creek at Groveville in Hamilton Township. Doctors Creek
can be reached by kayak or canoe heading west about 0.5 mile toward the
Delaware River.
This beautiful,
inviting spot is a quiet intimate passive park. There is also a
walking trail access that would be to the left side of the picture --
the steps lead the
visitor to a grassy space at the edge of which is an
opening into the wooded trail. A prime example of a
stream / trail access that could be built along Doctors Creek in
Allentown, Upper Freehold, and Millstone.

Allentown Borough,
NJ
A view of the Doctors Creek as it meanders
along the southern perimeter of Heritage Park in Allentown.
Access to this part
of the
Doctors Creek is available from a narrow trail that has entrances at
several places around the periphery of the park area. There is
currently no put-in area or launch ramp for canoes or kayaks.
This section of the Doctors Creek is also about 20 feet lower than it
is in Upper Freehold due to the elevation of Conine's Mill Pond
spillway on the
southeastern side of the borough. |

Upper Freehold Township,
NJ
A view of the Doctors Creek as it meanders
behind the Galloping Brook development in northern Upper Freehold
Township.
Access to this part
of the
Doctors Creek is undeveloped. A portion of the land area between
two developed lots was reserved as a storm water retention area,
complete with storm drain and outfall pipe that dumps into the wooded
area. The run-off finds its way to the creek a little way down on
the right of the picture. However, with a little planning, this
could have similar potential to the Groveville stream access.

Millstone Township,
NJ
A view of the Doctors Creek as it widens
and is visible from Red Valley Road in Millstone Township near the
Assunpink WMA.
A beautiful scenic
vista, this is the Doctors Creek's headwaters. The Assunpink WMA is a
drainage / flood abatement project that was developed over several
decades and supports hiking, biking, equestrian, and walking trails.
Trail access to this area, limited from the west, would be opened and
enhanced through trail easements
along the Doctors Creek corridor lands.
