KENNETH H. FRANCIS MEMORIAL ENVIRONMENTAL
STEWARDSHIP FUND

Kenneth H. Francis was a 16-year Committeeman and environmental steward advocating for the protection and good stewardship of Plumsted Township lands and waters, especially the Crosswicks Creek.

The KENNETH H. FRANCIS MEMORIAL ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP FUND was established for the purpose of advancing his vision for the proper stewardship of our natural, open-space lands and water bodies.

There are two types of annual disbursements to be made from this fund; Two $500 Scholarships, and a Youth Community Project Grant for up to $500.  Details for both are given below.


SCHOLARSHIPS

To apply for one of the two $500 KFES Scholarship Awards:-
  • You must be a current student resident of Plumsted Township (Ocean County)
  • You must be a High School Senior
  • Upon graduation from High School, you must be officially enrolled at a school of higher learning in pursuit of a  degree related to the Environmental Sciences, Public Policy, and/or Liberal Arts
  • If more than two applicants apply, all applicants will be judged on academic achievements and GPA.


YOUTH COMMUNITY PROJECT GRANT


To apply for a Grant of up to $500 for a community environmental project:-
  • Individuals and / or youth groups must be living (or based) in the municipalities within the Crosswicks Creek Watershed**  in order to apply for the Community Project Grant.
  • The project may be physically located within Plumsted Township borders, or encompassing any portion of the Crosswicks Creek Watershed- all 25 miles from the beginning at Joint Base MDL to the end at the Delaware River.
  • Project plan must be submitted.
  • If applicable, all local ordinances and state laws must be adhered to.
  • Applicant must demonstrate the level of expertise that the project will require.
